Maria abramovic and Barbara Kruger

The artist Maria abramovic, in one of her acts lays a set of tools on the table and lets the viewers do anything to her. The viewers have been told that theyre not responsible for anything that they do. This brings out the animal that stays inside of us. Many people call it crazy and dont even regard it as art. But the truth is, the body of maria is the canvas of the art that the viewers created on her, I learnt through this that art isnt just all beautiful, it can also be a reflection of the society. Maria does what most people cannot do but what is most needed. A human can only gain empathy for another living being, and not much on a canvas so she takes the role of that human to teach the society of themselves.


Barbara Kruger, a conceptual artist, uses black and white images with red background and white text with a rhetorical question or a taunting line that hits you negatively. I personally take a lot of inspiration from her work. I seem to connect with her work and the rhetoric questions that cross our heads everyday which we hardly ever put some thought to. I love the color combinations she uses, its very attractive and eye catching to anyone who passes by that poster. I like and would use her way of approach towards changing the society. Not many get impacted by the posters that tell you not to do certain things, but things like these make a person wonder and realize their devil and that drives a change from within themselves.
